Interconnect Wastewater Project

Grand Forks, ND – East Grand Forks, MN

After several years of planning, the Cities of East Grand Forks and Grand Forks reached an agreement that Grand Forks’ wastewater treatment facility would treat both cities’ wastewater. The Interconnect Project consists of a new pumping station and forcemain installation to connect the two communities and provide for the transfer of wastewater from East Grand Forks to Grand Forks. The 22‑acre equalization basin constructed outside East Grand Forks will provide temporary storage of wastewater if required.  The project is funded in part by Minnesota Public Facilities Authority with a $5.3 million grant, which covers approximately one half of the anticipated project cost.
