Northwest Mental Health Center Addition
WSN was the architect of this single-story, 7,600 sq.ft. building that includes office space, lobby, and consultation rooms. One of the primary considerations in the interior layout was to enhance the privacy and confidentiality needs of the center’s clients. Offices are arranged off three separate corridors to reduce chance encounters; the reception area was split into two for the same reason.
The building site preserves as much of the natural landscape as possible on this heavily-treed lot. The face brick blends with the neighboring law enforcement center. A three-sided courtyard is available for staff use.
Originally designed by WSN and built in 1993, WSN was retained, again, in 2007 to design an addition. As the six counties served by Northwest Mental Health Center have grown, service demand and staffing have likewise increased. The center now accommodates more than 100 staff and client confidentiality continues to be maintained through scheduling and a floor plan that minimizes the possibility of chance encounters.
