Jim Szustek has joined the staff at Widseth Smith Nolting. With more than 35 years of electrical engineering experience, he is a licensed professional engineer in Minnesota. Szustek has experience with lighting design, power distribution, MCCs, generators, equipment sizing, and PLC/DCS controls for industrial, educational, and commercial building types. The Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated its new office with an open house party, which was part of the Tyrol Hills Shopping Center Business After Hours event on April 12. Widseth Smith Nolting provided architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering services on the office remodel project. WSN also provided design concepts to the builder for the shoppping center exterior improvements. “WSN Hunger Games” provides support to local food shelves

Widseth Smith Nolting has held food drives in each of its office locations for many years to support area food shelves. In 2015, a competition between our offices was born — the WSN Hunger Games. In its first year the competition raised $3,849 and collected 1,590 pounds of food. This year’s Hunger Games was an even bigger success, with $4,545 raised and 2,832 pounds of food collected, all of which was donated to area food shelves and organizations. The interior of the Hermantown Mills Fleet Farm store has dramatically changed since the building shell was erected last fall. What was once a muddy mess is now clean, bright, and ready for merchandise. The concrete floors have been poured and polished; interior walls have been framed, sheet-rocked, and painted; and the retail racking is currently being assembled. Sprout Food Hub opens for business in refurbished manufacturing plant

Sprout Food Hub, recently completed in Little Falls, MN, is a local food co-op constructed with design assistance from Widseth Smith Nolting. Three years in the making, the facility is entirely foundation- and grant-funded from countless community partners. Sprout celebrated its grand opening earlier this month.
