(2) MN DNR Local Trail Connections Program

WHO’S ELIGIBLE:
Cities, counties, townships, and recognized tribal governments.

WHAT IT’S FOR:
The Local Trail Connections Program provides grant funding to promote short trail connections between where people live and desirable locations, not to develop significant new trails. Eligible projects include acquisition and development of trail facilities, and projects must result in a trail linkage that is immediately available for public use. Development projects require a 20-year maintenance commitment by the project sponsor. Projects inside state park boundaries, state recreation areas, or on state trail corridors are not eligible.

TYPE OF FUNDING:
Up to 75% of the total eligible project costs can be reimbursed through grant funding. The minimum grant request is $5,000, and the maximum grant award is $150,000. Recipients must provide a non-state cash match of at least 25% of the project costs.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND DEADLINE:
The application deadline is March 30, 2018. Applications are then ranked during Spring 2018 and grant awards are announced Summer 2018.
