The Pine Island Roundabout is a continuation of MnDOT’s Highway 52 east frontage road project. Discussion of the convergence of the frontage road, Highway 52 ramps, and Goodhue County Road 11 led to the conclusion that a roundabout was the safest design alternative. The roundabout maintains the existing street connections, which was important to the City of Pine Island, Goodhue County, and MnDOT.
Built over a former landfill and encompassing multiple wetlands, the Fosston Inspiration Trail (FIT) accommodates walking, biking, and snowshoeing. Trail users enjoy an array of flora and fauna throughout the diverse types of wetlands and wildlife habitats. At just over one mile long, the trail provides a solid anchor connecting the existing sidewalk, wood boardwalk, softball complex, natural play space, cemetery, school, fitness center, and future additional trails.
Grand Forks’ senior population is anticipated to grow significantly, and demand for very affordable housing options is also expected to increase. Cherrywood Village is a 30-unit affordable housing apartment complex offering accessible units to individuals age 62 and older. This new option in senior living serves as a positive addition to the community.
